Hello students and parents.
Second semester marks are in and students will be receiving their report cards on Friday, February 4th. If you have any comments, questions on concerns about the report card, please send me an email, mcmcguire@edu.pe.ca, or contact me at the school. Our third semester has begun and ends on April 15, 2011. I would encourage all students to be responsible in completing and passing in their classwork and/or any assignments over the semester.
9B English Social Studies - We have begun our unit on the Physical Environment of Atlantic Canada. We have learned how to find absolute locations on various maps using coordinates of latitude and longitude, as well as describing the relative locations of places using North, South, East, and Westerly directions. Students have a map assignment (the physical and cultural caracteristics of Atlantic Canada) due Thursday, February 3. We will learn how to find locations using topographic maps this week. Students are now working in their social studies textbooks, Atlantic Canada in the Global Community.
9F French Immersion Social Studies - We have begun our unit on the Physical Environment of Atlantic Canada. Students are now working their textbooks, La Diversité du Canada Atlantique.
9F French Immersion Language Arts - As we drawn closer to the end of our Myths and Mythology theme, the students (alone or in pairs) have just begun working on an oral presentation assignment to complete on a God or Goddess of their choice. Students will be presenting to the class next week and will have been given two classes to complete their assignments in the computer lab.
Journal entries regarding a critique of the film, "Roan Inish" are due Wednesday, February 2, 2011.
8F French Immersion Social Studies - Check for upcoming posts regarding the Heritage Fair in the month of March. Students have completed a map of Italy during the Renaissance period. We will be examining how geography effected people's lives at this period in history.
