Welcome back students and parents to the school routine. I hope everyone has had a happy and restful holiday.
7F French Immersion Social Studies - We have completed a mini-research project this week on Egytian Pharaohs from the Ancient and New Empires. Students will be presenting them today in chronological order and will be arranging their work on the walls of the classroom next week. This project will be marked out of 10 and will be returned to the students next week.
7F/8F French Language Arts - I have returned all of the Carmen en fugue mineure end-of-novel projects. Any novels at home or in lockers should be returned to the classroom as soon as possible. At the moment, the students are presenting group-researched myths and questions to the class. This assignment is marked out of 15.
8F French Immersion Social Studies - This past week we have completed two debates "The feodal system is a good idea," and "The societies of the Middle Ages are very similar to the societies of today," in class. The students received their marks today from the debate. We completed our study of the Middle Ages today with an exercise in decoding ancient runes or the anglo-saxon alphabet (marked out of 5). We will begin the Renaissance on Monday.
HERITAGE FAIR - Information has been given to the students regarding Heritage Fair, coming up in March just prior to the March Break. Students are to work alone or with a partner. The project is done in French, and will be judged in French. Students are to follow the historical method process in researching their projects. All topics should be related in some way to PEI or Canada. Further information regarding Heritage Fair will be posted over the next two months.

We have begun a geography unit that is covered in chapter one of their SS textbook, La Diversité du Canada Atlantique/Atlantic Canada in the Global Community. Currently, we are learning about absolute and relative location coordinates. An assignment will be given out Monday related to finding coordinates. Marks have been given out re: slide show presentations.
9B English Social Studies - We have completed our Global Studies/Interdependance unit. Marks have been distributed for group mural and slide show presentations.
