We have so far studied the empowerment of First Nations, Metis and Inuit as well as Quebec's struggle for empowerment. Currently, we are looking at political and economical issues between Eastern Canada, Central Canada and Western Canada.
Reflection on Quebec' struggle for empowerment is due by the 21st.

8F-9F French Immersion Language Arts- Each group is currently working on a novel assignment in class. The grade 8s are reading "Toujours Plus Haut" and the grade 9s are reading a novel of their choice. Each student will be responsible for completing an assignment based on their novel by the end of next week. This morning, we completed our second last dictation of the year. I will introduce the last dictation assignment within the next two weeks.

To gain a better understanding of the life and times of Louis Riel, the students are going to present scenes of his life (early education, leadership of the Metis in Manitoba, rebellion and trial.) The students have also written a reflection, "Louis Riel, hero or traitor?" The scenes will be presented in class on the 20th and the 21st.
7F French Immersion Language Arts - We have nearly completing reading our novel Tintin au Tibet. The students have really enjoyed reading this novel. Once we have completed the reading of Tintin, each student must complete an assignment based on this novel as part of the theme "Les Voyages."

The students were given a different type of map assignment for 4th semester. They were divided up into four groups, each group is responsible for drawing a large-scale map of either the ancient city of Rome, the Roman Empire, the Italian Peninsula and an economic map of the Roman Empire. Each group, upon completion, will present their map to the class. The maps will remain on the walls of the classroom until the end of the year. They will be excellent resources for future lessons on Ancient Rome.
